Hiring pre-licensed associates from CA and WA for 2025
Margin to Center Consulting, a 501©3 organization providing telehealth in California and Washington, is seeking CA or WA-registered AMFT or APCC/AMHC associates in our non-profit's "practice incubator" setting. Those with experience in sex therapy and couple therapy are particularly good fits; see below for more information on the potential for training in Gottman Method Couple Therapy and supervision that helps qualify you as an AASECT-Certified Sex Therapist (CST).The ideal candidate for our open positions is an ambitious self-starter interested in learning the business aspects of private practice, who has at least beginning experience in providing couple/relational therapy. You will build your own practice under my supervision: I will pass along referrals to you as I can, mostly for couple/relationship therapy, but you should also be prepared with a specific client focus and ideas for marketing/outreach that will help you generate your own referrals. You may bring clients along from an existing work setting if they are able to pay directly for therapy (we are not in-network with any insurers.)
The successful applicant will be prepared to work at least two evenings per week, or one evening and a weekend day, in order to carry a client load of up to 18-20 weekly appointments. (A third day or evening will be needed as well, but evenings are most desirable.) It is very difficult to develop this kind of client load with only daytime appointments.
M2C is currently focused on providing services via telehealth, but it is possible to develop an in-office practice for yourself if desired. All supervision is provided via video/telehealth.
We emphasize systemic, family and couple conjoint therapy work whenever possible in group and individual supervision. M2C particularly welcomes clinicians from equity-deserving groups who want to specialize in work with populations including but not limited to LGBTQIA, CNM/polyam, BIPOC folks and those in mixed race/ethnicity relationships, and people with disabilities.
Margin to Center emphasizes social justice and cultural humility in all of our work.
Benefits of working for Margin to Center:
- Supervision from an AAMFT Approved Supervisor. Approved Supervisor status is the gold standard for MFT supervision in most states.
- Supervision from an expert Marriage and Family Therapist with 27 years in the field and more than 15 years of experience teaching and supervising. I am a Certified Gottman Therapist and trainer, AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, and Certified Deliberate Practice Supervisor.
- Supervision from an explicitly queer- and trans-affirming perspective, emphasizing feminist and social justice principles, but with an emphasis on developing your ability to conceptualize cases and apply couple and family systems approaches in a coherent treatment plan.
- Weekly group supervision allowing you to collaborate with associates with similar clinical interests and goals.
- The opportunity to receive supervision with couples/dyads based heavily in Gottman Method Couple Therapy (GMCT). You can get regular help in understanding and applying GMCT with your clients; there may also be the opportunity to receive Level 1 and Level 2 training in GMCT at a significant discount depending on my training schedule and capacity.
- As of March 2025, I am also receiving supervision of supervision from an AASECT Certified Sex Therapy Supervisor. If you have some or all of the educational credits needed to become a Certified Sex Therapist, and seek out cases where you can provide sex therapy, we can arrange supervision that will count for some of your hours toward becoming a CST in addition to the regular M2C group supervision times.
- Individual or triadic supervision (with a sufficient client load) focused on developing the skills and approaches you are interested in, using clinical video review and Deliberate Practice - the most effective tool for building skills.
- Independence in choosing your hours, clients, advertising methods and messages.
- Income as soon as you begin seeing clients, and greater earnings as you build your caseload.
- You can retain your clients when you get licensed. Your practice is yours to take with you.
- Our associates have a 100% success rate at passing their clinical exams on the first try!To get a feel for me and Margin to Center, have a look at http://www.drsheilaaddison.com and https://www.margintocenter.org .
